Land Conservation
The natural areas and parks managed by the Foundation
provide habitat for wildlife, conserve water and provide
recreational opportunities for the public.
One of our priorities is conserving natural areas and
wildlife habitat throughout Alberta. We encourage careful and
responsible planning for continued growth in Alberta so
future generations may enjoy our beautiful natural
areas.
How We Conserve Natural
Areas
The Park and Wildlife Ventures program supports private
land conservation in Alberta through the receipt of charitable land
donations, land purchases, land management, partnerships with
conservation groups, fundraising and consultative
services.
Land Donations and
Purchases
We accept land donations, which may be eligible for
certification under the Government of Canada's Ecological Gifts Program. In many cases,
a donor will make a gift of land to the Foundation and include
specific wishes related to activities for the land. We respect
these wishes.
The Foundation in partnership with other
organizations make land purchases to help conserve natural
areas that are important to wildlife, are ecologically sensitive or
are adjacent to other conservation lands.

Teamwork
The Park and Wildlife Ventures program brings together
landowners, community groups, industry, government agencies,
non-government agencies, volunteers and donors to conserve valuable
habitat. The Foundation partners with other conservation
agencies to manage lands, provide funds for purchasing
lands and to promote conservation in Alberta.
Monetary
Donations
We accept funds on both a project by project basis and to
support new conservation projects in Alberta. For example, a
donation in support of Peaceful Valley will only be
used in the maintenance and operation of the
Peaceful Valley Provincial Recreation Area and Day Use
Lodge.
Donors may also take advantage of various planned giving
tools, such as bequests through wills or life insurance
policies.
Tax receipts for charitable donations are issued in
accordance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations.
