About 55 Plus Games

Alberta 55 Plus Games provide a venue for Albertans 55 and over to pursue greater levels of physical, social, intellectual and creative achievement through friendly competition and participation.

The games also enhance a sense of community spirit by bringing together Albertans ages 55 and over.

Calgary 2013 Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games

Calgary... The City of Calgary held the Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games in February 2013. The games provided an opportunity for Albertans 55 years of age and older to compete in a province-wide winter sports competition. 

"On behalf of the City of Calgary and its citizens, I am thrilled we were chosen as the host city for the Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games in 2013," said Mayor Naheed Nenshi. "These games will be a great opportunity to showcase Calgary's world-class event level sports facilities and we look forward to having the participants enjoy these amenities and the friendly atmosphere of our city."

 

Barrhead and Westlock to jointly host 2013 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games

Barrhead and Westlock ... The communities of Barrhead and Westlock will jointly host the Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games in 2013.

"As the MLA for Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock, I am already looking forward to the 2013 Alberta 55 Plus Summer Games. I know our constituent communities will be proud and hospitable hosts, and I am excited that we will have the chance to welcome our athletes, their families and friends, and show them the many things our vibrant region has to offer."

Participating in Alberta 55 Plus Games

Learn how to become a participant in an Alberta 55 Plus Winter or Summer Games on the Alberta Games website. Information Playoff posters will be distributed throughout the province approximately four months prior to the games. Playoffs will be held one-to-three months prior to the games.

Alberta 55 Plus Games participants are provided with accommodation, meals, transportation to and from the Games, transportation during the Games, Zone Identification (i.e. t-shirt) and sport bag, inclusion in ceremonies and other social events and provision of sport facilities and necessary sport equipment for competition in the host community
