The Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation celebrates contributions through:

Sport Recognition Awards

The 2011 Athlete and Team of the Year Awards  will be presented in conjunction with the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on May 25, 2012 in Red Deer.

Athlete and Team of the Year Award

Recognizes and celebrates the significant achievements, performances and contributions of Alberta's amateur teams and athletes.  These award winners are outstanding role models who inspire other Albertans to higher achievements at the recreational or competitive level. 

Categories include Male and Female, Team, Junior Male and Female, and Junior Team.

Since the program began in 2002, 37 athletes and 7 teams have been recognized.

 

Coaching, Officiating and Volunteer Recognition Awards

These awards are presented every two years in conjunction with the Leadership Summit and will be presented at the Alberta Sport and Recreation Leadership Summit in Banff in 2013. Information and forms willbe available in the fall of 2012. 

Coaching  Recognition Awards

Recognizes coaches for their successful and outstanding achievements in developing Alberta's amateur athletes.

Since the program began in 1987, 64 coaches have been recognized.

Officiating Recognition Awards

Recognizes officials for their successful and outstanding achievements in officiating sports that involve Alberta's amateur athletes. 

Since the program began in 1992, 38 officials have been recognized.

Sport Volunteer Recognition Awards

Recognizes and honour the significant contributions of individuals who devote their volunteer time and effort to the development of sport.  

Since the program began in 1987, 82 sport volunteers have been recognized.

Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation and the Alberta Sport, Recreation Parks and Wildlife Foundation has joined forces with the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association (ARPA) to bring Alberta's recreation and parks community Energize 2011.
